As an incentive for not using pesticides, PROMESA rewards the fulfilment environmental standards of its producers by giving them bonus per banana box.

Producers and / or workers are trained on the standards implementation with organic certification SKAL, Fair Trade FLO, Naturama, and a process for obtaining Eurepgap certification.

The APPBG has a good relation with SKAL and it has obtained the organic certificate in a fast way.
With this certification, new markets have opened such as U.S.A and Germany and together with Agrotuir importers, a fruit introduction to the French market has begun, 20% of organic production belongs to the markets. |

Naturama Certification |

Fruit quality with naturama certification, have improved; even when, until need last year several inconveniences appeared due to chemical residues on the fruit. Precautions were taken immediately including change of pumps used for post heavens applications to the fruit, supervising presence of not permitted products on the fruit. The members visit of the station market approved this auditory, without unconformity complaints. |

Eurepgap Certification Process |
Thanks to AFAD (Agrotuir Assistance and Development) from Holland, external funds were received (DOENICCO funds) to obtain Eurepgap Certification. With (DOEN funds) resource part of the Eurepgap implementation plan was unfolded, where a first group of 125 producers was formed, diagnosing the level of infrastructure of the farm producers. Financed loans have been made to producers to fulfil1 00% of infrastructures. Rotary funds have been raised to supply the second group of producers. With the ICCO funds, Training Implantation Plan was established for producers and technicians, as fertilizing," Register, First Aids, integral hygiene: and ..4h chemicals handling. Resources were assigned to central offices and warehouses from Agroartesanal Pasaje (65% achievement); Agroartesanal Tenguel (90% achievement) and Agroartesanal Libertad ( 70% achievement).
